Valuable Advice – Spread the word!

Word travels and the old saying word of mouth is true and I believe we are already worrying the people responsible for this outrageous mandate.  To me the fact that the government and power companies are having to continually spin their propaganda to con people that they will be better off with these radiation emitting smart meters makes it clear they are worried.

The reason they are worried is that more and more wise citizens are standing up and taking a stand for what they truly believe and know is wrong.  We and in particular this site and the people who contribute to it, have helped open people’s eyes to the deception that we are dealing with.  My advice to all is to tweet, talk at work, tell your friends on Facebook, tell everyone you know – we can spread the message and the more locked meter boxes in Australia means we are putting a major spanner in the works – and let them try and punish us all!

We can and will make a difference.  Just remember, get the word out.  I have converted a few sceptics who thought I was over reacting.  These same people who I have proven my case to and shown what I have learnt  have now locked their boxes.  Good luck all and thank you to Stop Smart Meters Australia.

Regards,

Vickie

Upwey Smart Meter Awareness Forum – Overwhelming response!

Upwey Smart Meter Awareness Forum – Overwhelming response! There was a higher than expected turnout at the recently held forum in Upwey. Over 70 people attended, with all seats and standing room taken. Unfortunately, as there was no room left, many people couldn’t fit in the meeting room, and had to return home. The forum gathered lots of passionate people and useful ideas. As a result of the overwhelming response to the meeting, the Upwey Smart Meter Action Group is planning another meeting in a few weeks time with a larger venue. Stay tuned!

Smart Meter concerns raised – Bairnsdale Advertiser

More than 20 local residents raised their concerns over the installation of Smart Meters at a Smart Meter Awareness Forum in Bairnsdale recently. (Related post BAIRNSDALE SMART METER COMMUNITY FORUM)

Residents from Bairnsdale, Maffra and Bruthen came together to ask questions and share concerns.

Coordinators, Maxine Harber and Allannah Nugent, both local people, were delighted with the interest.

“There wasn’t a dull moment. People had a lot of questions,” Ms Harber said.

Ms Harber said the idea to host the forum came about from customers coming into her Bairnsdale store.

“Many people would bring the topic up and unless you know where to look, information can be very hard to find,” she said.

“My friend has been researching the topic for the past year or more and works very closely with the Stop Smart Meter Australia groups, so she was the perfect person to do the speaking.”

The risk of wireless Smart Meters having a negative effect on animals and plants was discussed, as was time of use pricing.

Ms Haber said having a premium cost at the time when most people are at home, having dinner and putting the kids to bed is of great concern, especially with energy costs already so high.

Other concerns raised included security, both personal and physical and the likely-hood of the system being hacked into.

“By far the biggest concern was the health effects. With other countries around the world taking immediate action to slow or halt the application of wireless Smart Meters, they were wondering why our Government wasn’t doing the same,” she said.

Ms Harber said a lady, who shared her story at the meeting, is highly sensitive to electro-magnetic radiation and is fearing having to move from her home should the wireless mesh system for Smart Meters be introduced.

“Her bravery in telling strangers how her life is impacted by wireless transmissions helped many people understand the real personal side to this issue,” she said.

“You see, one of the biggest issues with wireless Smart Meters is that the microwave radiation from one home, mixes with the signals of the other homes around it and the radiation fills the air, with no escape. For someone in her position it means they have to go to extreme measures to protect their health.”

I am now getting pulsating headaches at night!

Sony Crystal: Well it’s official, I am now getting pulsating headaches at night, ever since these guys installed a smart meter on the wall out the front of our home, a few days ago.

My armchair is right next to the wall where the smartmeter is on the other side. I have not had one headache or migraine for nineteen years ever since I gave up having sugar in my diet.

Every night now I start to feel like I am catching the flu, and then I feel this weird pulsation on the right side of the brain which faces the wall, which results in me developing a headache. If I walk far enough away from the wall where the smart meter is, the headache starts to subside.

It really feels like there is a giant mobile phone on the other side of our wall. The guys straight out lied to my face before they very quickly installed the smart meter, telling me how safe and ok it was as far as my health was concerned.

They told me that the people on Current Affairs had just made up stories about the smart meter, that the old lady who said she could hear humming and felt really ill after her smart meter was installed, was just trying to get out of paying her bill.

They told me a whole lot more bunch of lies so in the end I trusted them, against my own better judgement. I was very against the stupid meters in the beginning, but these guys work on you so convincingly, that you begin to think that you might be worried about nothing.

I am now going to go to the local council with a letter from my doctor and I am going to get them to remove the *** stupid meter.

Action Kits

Victorians are being misinformed.  The so called ‘mandate that every Victorian home and small business will have a smart meter installed’, actually states:

‘Each distributor must use its best endeavours to install a remotely read interval meter’….etc (Victorian Government Gazette S200 dated 28th of August 2007, para 14.1)

It does NOT state that customers HAVE to accept them!

In doing their “best endeavours” to install smart meters the distributors are adopting bullying tactics including:

▪    Threatening to disconnect electricity

▪    Threatening to impose financial penalties

▪    Telling the customer that they have to accept installation

▪    Threatening to break any locked meter box

As mentioned earlier on this site, the Essential Services Commission “does not consider the [above] behaviour described as being consistent with “best endeavours”.

Yet, bullying of customers continue…..

As a result of growing requests for assistance in refusing the installation of smart meters or having analogue meters returned, Stop Smart Meters Australia has updated the “Actions you can take” section of the website to include two Action Kits.

There is now an array of actions and letters people can choose from to assist them.  See: Actions you can take
