On the prohibition of undue harassment form is says to insert the company name and ACN from the letter provided by the company . If they don’t give an ACN number on the letter but give an ABN instead , should I use the ABN stated on the form or look up their company ACN online as it is not stated in the letter

Is it okay to send the Notice of prohibition to the retailers locked bag address? They won’t give me their land address.

    • Anonymous says:

It doesn’t look like you have any choice but to send it to the locked bag address.
It’s absurd how difficult it is to find physical addresses of businesses nowadays.

Google says this? I also don’t want a smart meter here in NSW. I got notification from AGL. If you live in New South Wales, Queensland, the ACT, Tasmania or South Australia, you can only refuse a smart meter if your current meter is still working properly and you didn’t waive your right to opt out of getting a smart meter when you signed your electricity contract.23 Jan 2023. Please help us all. Prayers.

  4. NoSmartMeters says:

Is there one for water meter? And how to attach it? As the water meter is an odd shape.

  5. Anna says:

Stop Smart Meters Australia – any updates on the legality of the letters you’ve provided? I have Enova insisting that Essential Energy has stated an issue in 2017 requires my meter to be replaced.

  6. Jane says:

OK. I am having problems with Western Power again. Despite declining a new meter 4 times (once via Registered Post) they are still pressuring me. I have been told that I must have my meter changed but they can omit the communications card and it will be safe. I dont understand this. Is it true? Can someone explain this to me please?
    Jane

    • Cathy says:

If the communications card isn’t there then that means there won’t be any pulsed microwave radiation. (Or as Western Power likes to refer to it, as it sounds so much less harmful, “radiofrequency communications technology”.) So all good.
But having said that, some people have problems even with digital non-communicating meters, because of the dirty electricity that they produce. (Lots of things do this, these days.)

    • Anonymous says:

hello Jane, do you have any updates of what’s happening with Smart meters in WA?

I rang Western Power 1 year ago and asked the Q. We don’t want our meter replaced with a smart meter.

The guy had to check with his superior. He came back and said. You’ll have to have it installed when they roll them out but then you can get it just disconnected after it’s installed.

I’ll have to see what the latest is.

      Cheers

      Marisa

Don’t do it. Whether it has a transmitter or not that is not the main reason energy companies are trying to change your meter (although it saves them money on hiring a reader)). It’s because they can legally increase your electricity rates and you have no say in the matter. Most electricity contracts state they any replacement of the meter or modification to the system allows them to renegotiate the electricity prices and feed-in tariff. Before I had refused and cancelled the new meter installation they had sent an email showing the “new” proposed electricity prices. It was far more expensive and they also slash any decent feed-in tariff you might still have been entitled to.

  7. Chrissy says:

I rang Synergy and Western Power and both said the builders electrical engineer would have to put a request in on my behalf for an Analogue Meter.
When the builders rang Western Power they told them to ring Synergy so they did and the answer to my request to having an Analogue Meter was refused.
Now I am not sure what I can do next so I am hoping someone can give me some advice.

  8. Sam T says:

I already have a smart meter installed on my home as i wasn’t told anything about my meter when we built our home a little over a year ago. Recently we had a power issue in the estate where most houses lost power and i have noticed my meter was affected because my bill was an estimate and now they have sent me a message asking if i agree to them coming to fix or replace the the meter between the 23-4-19 to 26-4-19. I want it replaced with an old style meter as i have been really ill since living here as have my wife and kids. Is there anything i can do to get them to install an old style meter? I read the rulings but i wasn’t sure if it applied to meters already installed or not. Can anyone help please?

    • Cathy says:

Hopefully, you’ve managed to hold them off for the moment! I think that you have zilch chance of getting it replaced with an analogue meter unless you live in WA or the NT. (And even there, it would likely be an uphill battle.) If you live elsewhere, and not in Victoria, at least they can replace it with a non-communicating meter if you need a new one. (Or get them to deactivate the communications if they’re able to fix it …possibly they will say that this can’t be done until 1 July, when the new rule amendment starts??) Having the remote communications switched off should be a big improvement as that means no more microwaves. There’s still a possible problem with dirty electricity. Plus they can bill you for having to come out to read the meter, if they want to! (It might be a good idea to check out plans with other electricity retailers to find one that doesn’t charge for this …try Origin.)

      • meow says:

why not get an electrician to install an analog meter, buy a new analog meter and get it installed. the argument they use is that your old meter ‘isnt safe’ etc. but if you have a new one installed by a verified electrician… then they can either come read it or you can change companies.

    • Natalie Spence says:

My name is Natalie. I have 6 smart meters adjusted to my living room. It gives splitting headaches and lots of other health problems. The house belongs to the Housing. They refuse to do anything about it.

Does anyone else feel like a prisoner in this country?? Why do these idiots have any right to alter our private property against our will? Where’s the revolution this country so desperately needs? Think vaccinations, fracking, Adani, Smart Meters, Gay Marriage – the list goes on and on.

I agree with all the above but add in fluoride The labour government in Victoria took away our right not to be mass medicated.

You absolutely right. unfortunately in this country people don’t understand what the real agenda is behind all this. If they take the time and connect the dots they will be shocked. But they are kept busy by the fake news and the corrupt media and politicians. They are giving the illusion of freedom. They think by voting for someone is going to change things.
It does not matter who you vote for ITS THE SAME AGENDA.

    • Natalie Spence says:

Unfortunately we accept everything these b*stards make us do. People are sleeping instead of standing up against stupid laws

  11. Toni says:

    Let’s start a class action…………

I’ve refused smart meters for some time now. Ausnet and Select solutions turned up at the property and refused all demands that no smart meter be fitted on private property. They instead ignored all my legal rights and requests, and proceeded to rip out my meters and fit theirs. (I have a perfectly working sub station so it was not needed at all)
Harassment and bullying at its best.

Paul Hoult at Ausnet claims they won’t remove them. In a nutshell, he tried to make void any of my legal rights, and totally ignored what they did wrong LEGALLY in the first place by removing, without my consent, perfectly working meters in a sub power station for unwanted smart meters.

Anyone interested in a class action? Contact admin to message me.

    • onemeremember says:

No. Costs too much. You may consider this:

    • Anonymous says:

Yes a Class Action would be the way to go as their profits are wired straight to their heart and brain.

What really needs to be done now, by someone with legal knowledge, is a petition (change.org or the like) to the “Energy Minister” for every State and Territory Government and the Federal Government in Australia to let them know we are awake and not interested in “Smart Meters”.

      I am not legally knowledgeable.
I am politically aware and all done at the same time and press release of their existence could be a game changer.

      • Christina Noth says:

Yes I agree they have to be stopped.
I my case is, they come and read the meter and write different numbers on our bill. Energex told us that we are not using enough power so they adjusting it. Since beginning of the year we are fighting to stop them to put a “Smart Meter” on to our bedroom wall.

The cause of much ill in most Countries is the Legal system which only operates in the colour of law and is not Lawful. For more go to magnacarta1215.com

Today received notification from Powershop..advising form to be filled out to allow SMART METER INSTALLATION!!..AND paid for by them! Also today..a friend in her area was approached by AGL.
I am from Victoria where these disastrous things were inflicted upon people…NOW they’re trying to deceive Queenslanders!!
    PLEASE WARN QUEENSLANDERS!!..

    • NoSmartMeters says:

I haven’t received a notification from my provider. I want to send them a letter. Should I wait until I get a notification? What is the recommended course of action?

      • Cathy says:

Be proactive and send them a letter (and do everything else you can think of, as well!). The horse has usually bolted if everybody just waits until their provider comes up with a plan of action (which most probably won’t be to the liking of anybody with some nous).

  13. Jeff says:

    Hi,
I haven’t read this on your site, but it’s something a property lawyer once told me in relation to a bollard council wanted to install on my nature-strip. Apparently under Australian Property Law there is wording to the affect of ” No other person can install anything on a property that negatively affects the value of said property”. Does anyone have a link to that law/clause? With all the negative feedback on smart meters, having one fitted to your property, would mean less people would want to purchase your house and therefore quite possibly mean your property is worth less”.

  14. mal says:

hi i was wanting to know if i could get a letter for Agl Queensland as they have installed a meter on the wall of my sons bedroom.thanks mal

    • SSMA website support says:

      Hi Mal
The letters are now provided in Word, in order to enable people to make their own alterations. So just replace the address with AGL’s address, and go for it!

  15. Trouble is, that all the radiation comes out the back, now – right into your home. Have you measured there?

    • meow says:

it probably uses internet over power lines as a node too… and wire taps your whole house using your internal wiring as an antenna. it is a control box that can modulate your whole houses RF… sooooo…. probably a good idea to keep it analog unless you believe they have good anti hacking protocols in these cheaply made boxes shipped over with chipsets from china that who knows what backends are built in.

  16. Helen says:

Can we have letters relating to New South Wales please…

  17. Dani says:

Please can we get letters for WA. thanks

  18. Karyn Chapman says:

Please can you assist me in being able to Print out A1 “Meter Box Sign” above? If I click on the above there is no way I can print it out. Can you help? Karyn Chapman

  19. Anneline West says:

Please can we have a set of letters for Western Australia. These all refer to Victoria. Thank you

  20. John M says:

Where have the signs to print up for the meter box gone for renters?. Mine was torn down in a previous install attempt and I wish to replace it but I’m not the owner of property.

  21. HKW says:

How do I stop them from installing smart meter to a brand new home?

    • HKW you need to,
Find an “A grade Electrician who is prepared to buy and install a Safe and Passive Analog Electric Meter for you in your brand new home.

Realise this…..It is not the LAW that you have to have a dopey and deadly to your health and welfare Type 2B Carcinogen Causing Microwave ‘Smart Arsed Meter.’ These so-called smart meters can turn out to be Incendiary Devices. For proof of this, look up Northcote Fire after dopey so-called smart meter installed. Look up Haddon Dentists two so-called smart meters blew up and damaged two separate surgeries out of four total surgeries in large dental complex in Glenroy, a Western Melbourne suburb. These were put in by Jemena.

Dentistry owner finally got the Safe and Passive Analog Electric Meter reinstalled and no more problems. She will now have to get compensation from Jemena either through Court Action or out of Court.

      • Alnilam says:

My house was built two years ago and I have realized only now (after sending letters to Ausnet, local minister and energy minister to remove smart meter. it feels stupid) that I have smart meter. Ausnet says I am in their area and that’s all I can have according to government. The letter template is for people who have installed smart meter at their property without them being asked. What should I include for a newly built house?

      • meow says:

the ac dc supply is all messed up in them, the dirty electricity is just the fall guy for the controlled rf issues. but most of the health issues will just be blamed on the other purposely faulty components

  22. Anonymous says:

At the beginning of this year I stopped a man installing a smart meter to my home.
Now my house is for sale and they have noticed it. The smart meter was secretly installed without me knowing while I wasn’t home.
That smells of communist regime to me!!
    OUTRAGEOUS!!!!
I’m planning on building a small house. How am I to stop them?!

  23. Sofia says:

and what is the next step, please? I am disputing with UE and now with Ombudsman trying to remove SM that they installed INSIDE MY BEDROOM. They just humiliate me. I became very ill and now losing my eyesight. So what to do after sending this letter to them? They will laugh at it.
