    I received a letter today from SP Ausnet saying that if they can’t get access to the meterbox they are going to disconnect me.I padlocked the meterbox and have a sign on it. They said that I am not complying with section 3.3 of the Electricity Distribution Code. I am really worried. What can I do?

    I am with Origin for my gas and electricity. I received a letter today, which I opened this evening, announcing that they are trebling my payments for electricity. I was having $50 per fortnight deducted for my electricity bill, today I received a letter which ignores that I am an Age Pensioner, and has decided that I must now pay $159.00 per fortnight instead. This follows my refusal to allow them to install a so called Smart Meter. How on earth can my electricity usage have trebled I am with Origin for gas as well, because I have a gas heater. Can I expect my gas bill to treble also? Right now I feel as though my head is going to explode, and I am having chest pains. I can’t even call about this until tomorrow. Has anyone else been through anything like this since they refused to accept the Smart Meter, Origin were bullying me over that, but this is the last straw.

      Frances, what exactly is your situation ? My situation is as follows……

      My meter is read and I am billed every 3 months. I then pay for what I have used. I have a consumption figure charged at a determined rate. The product of those two figures gives me my bill amount which I promptly proceed to pay. If you know consumption figure and tariff rate then not much ought to go wrong with the billing process.

      And if I am entitled to a (pensioner) concession, then a discount is applied on the quarterly bill amount pre gst.

      Perhaps not allowing anybody to dip their hand into your financial accounts could be a remedy for your matter.

      I’ve heard this is happening to other people and even though their bill ends up in a huge credit they still continue to demand a ridiculous amount. I am on a pension but I do not centrepay my bills. Instead what I do is I have organised with my bank to bpay them. Each pay day I pay what I want onto those bills over the phone. This way you are in control of what you are paying them and you still get to make those regular payments so you dont end up with a huge bill at the end.

      These are it would seem simply Bullying Tactics on behalf of your retailer. Now you must take it up with the Electricity Ombudsman or in this case it is a woman or Ombudswoman now in charge. Please write to the Ombudswoman of Electricity Water and Gas and include with your letter to her or him a photo copy of the ridiculously high bill they of Origin Sent you for your Electricity. I don’t know if you now have a dopey Microwave so-called smart meter or not. This is often the problem for most people in your situation.

    Good on you Gerhard give it to the mongrels,

    I wrote to United energy and got a A4 envelope stuffed full with all their propaganda bull in full color, so I thought I can do that as well, I gathered a lot of stuff from our site over the safety issues about 20 pages printed it out wrote another letter then mailed it registered to United haven’t had any more corespondence from them.
    My Meter box is locked with all the signage in place.
    Hell will freeze over before I will agree to the installation.

    Anyone who has had a dumb meter installed should immediately also install a Faraday Cage around the meter and keep meter readers in work.

      But keep your Electricity Meter Box Locked at all times and if you can fit a Perspex Viewing window to it, so much the better.

      Hang on. What is a Faraday Cage?
      Isn’t it true that Smart Meters don’t need a meter reader?

        Faraday Cage is 360 degree shielding right around. In the case of the smart meter the idea is to attempt to completely shield the wireless transmissions from proceeding anywhere beyond the perimeters of the “faraday cage”.

    @Gerhard…..love love love your letter!!! Keep up the good work. You have just inspired me to get ready for the next round of ignorant/harassing correspondence from SPAusnet which is sure to come our way very soon. NEVER GIVE IN AND NEVER GIVE UP,
    It may take time and a concerted effort on our part but we will win.

    Well done Gerhard love the letter, we can only hope the right person reads it. We have our meter box padlocked, so far we have had two letters about installing the smart meter at our home, we have ignored these letters and just sit back and see what happens. They caught us (and others) out at our holiday home on the Bass coast with short notice, they knew the homes were not occupied by permanent residents so they went in and installed the smart meters – not impressed.

    that is the five Chinese based private Electricity Distribution companies and how they operate
    in the State of Victoria.

    I like your ideas regarding the “Smart” meters. We’re doing the same here – more of us should be fighting for our rights – stand up to them – right is on our side – and it’s fun fighting the big men lol

    This is what I sent them (see attachment) early last year. Bloore sent two Powercor top brass to see myself and another tenant, at our Victorian Ministry of Housing flat. We may not get the meters for some time, and perhaps never, because the requirement was for bigger meter boxes to accommodate the number of meters to be installed (several for each of the 16 flats!) My co-protester, Issy, was going to end up with 18 meters in the box on the other side of his bedroom wall, and he has lupus, diabetes, PTSD, and other ailments.

    Issy (now no longer a resident) believes that the whole place would need rewiring, but I do not know this to be true. Suffice to say that the Ministry and Powercor will be bickering, for some time, hopefully, about who pays.

    That’s a good result, in my book, and I have already informed Powercor that at the end of 2013 I still have thre right to refuse to have the meters.

    I had a win yesterday when I phoned City Power not with my Real Name, but that of Mr Lovatt from Britain and putting on my best British Accent, I spoke to a pleasant gentleman named He was extremely polite. He said that the Microwave Smart Meters had been mandated on the Victorian home and small business owners, but I explained to him that a Mandate was not the LAW but a Great Confidence and Unlawful trick being Wickedly played out upon the Victorian Public with the still EVIL and Continuing Roll-Out of these M/Wave Smart Meters which are not so smart, but are now seemingly Deadly to many Humans and also animals and even insect and trees and plant life as well kas is attested to by the World Health Organisation and other very Humane and concerned Doctors of Medicine and other very concerned Health Professionals.

    I said, “This this M/Wave radiation from these so-called Smart meters is causing more and more people not only shocking headaches and or bleeding noses and or tachicarditis and or aching joints etc, but in some cases where these M/Wave Smart Meters have been installed on Victorian home and small business properties to actually cause not only here in Victoria but world-wide, have caused those people fitted with Heart Pacemakers in their Chests to experience not only irregular heart beats but in a number of cases to actually stop these patients hearts, thus necessitating immediate heart massage, then calling the ambulance/s to rush them to hospital to get their chests opened up and to reset the heart pace maker machines as the Microwave Smart Meter’s Radiation had thrown their Heart Pacemakers Out of Whack. He listened very patiently to these FACTS and I let him get in as many questions as he wanted to.
    I was amazed at his politeness. Seems they at City Power have one intelligent man there who is prepared to learn. I stressed other points such as these M/Wave Smart Meters are actually ILLEGAL TELEPHONE TAPPING DEVICES as well, necessitating a Judges Court Order to be allowed to operate, which they will not and canno get as they are ILLEGAL SNOOPING DEVICES.

    I also stressed that many peoples fridges has suffered FUSION or the burning out of the fridges motor/s after these M/Wave Smart Meters had been installed seemingly according to electrical experts, because the fridges’ motors ran slower owing to the Harmonics generated by the Microwave Smart Meters as attested to by experts in the field of Electrical Science. They have said that the harmonics or Dirty Electricity as it is known in the trade often causes fridge and other electric motors to run slower than designed thus causing the cooling fans to run slower than designed causing the fridges’ electric motor to burn out, which in the trade is know as FUSION.

    “Well said he “I didn’t know that.” I proffered a bit more information of a Fatherly tone to him which went like this………
    “Please turn off your recording machine.” he turned it off. “ If I were I’d get a better job where you are not aiding and abetting these truly DANGEROUS M/Wave Smart Meters to keep being rolled out on the Victorian Public. Quite frankly I don’t know how you people can sleep at night ! ”

    His response was,“ Well Mr Lovatt you’ve certainly given me something to think about, with your answers to my questions, where I had believed that these machines were actually safe as our bosses keep telling us.”
    “No,” these M/Wave so-called Smart Meters are actually very dangerous and when you get home tonight please do the research I and huge numbers of people here in Victoria have been engaged in by going on the Internet and seeing the damage being done to mounting numbers of people here in Victoria from these M/Wave so-called Smart Meters and as well from the now DAMNING EVIDENCE from overseas. Be aware of the fires from these also seeming to be now INCENDIARY M/Wave so-called Smart Meters. See the fires in the Haddon Dentists Practices in Glenroy and other fires in Geelong and only after these Microwave so-called Smart Meters had been installed. I have spoken to the victims of these fires and the sooner all of these M/Wave so-called Smart Meters are all ripped out of Victorians’ private home and small business properties and replaced at these foreign owned Power Companies expense the better for everybody.”
    “ Hmmm.” said he, ” Now you have me really worried !”
    “ Good,” said I, “ Have a nice day and please think very carefully on the FACTS I have given you today.” Then I hung up my ‘phone.

    Excellent letter Gerhard but you must not ‘assume’ that the CEO can actually read and understand or have the common sense to follow your instructions. Common sense is not that common these days. Still I have given you 10/10. Never surrender.

    Thank you Gerhard for your Educated attempt to teach an English lesson to the powers that be, but I’m afraid that our definitions haven’t been taught in their (being the foreign owners of our power), country. Excellent thought put into message. WE GET IT!

    Love the letter well done couldn’t have put it better myself. I keep getting letters about installing & I just totally ignore them as I have signs up and meter boxes padlocked. Not sure how long we can hold them out for but I’m willing to go all the way.
