In addition to the invasive misuse of customer data via the meter implementation there is an issue for rural installations to fail due to unreliable internet.

Metering can either be a simple and reliable service or it can be made complex and overly reliant upon a multitude of factors any of which can render further failures. Why would we commit ourselves to a pathway of harm and failure?
We are witnessing constant failure of the telco sector for even simple 000 functionality and yet this new meter rollout wants to burden the 4g and often non existent 5g spectrum with meter use data collection, it is wrong at many levels.

Keep up the great work SSMA

    regards,

    Peter Jansson

The presentation was in powerpoint. Somebody at the AGM asked if a copy would be made available and Steve said he’d first take out a few slides (showing material still to be published) and then share with the SSMA committee. But wow, Steve did such an amazing job of explaining everything for us. I learnt so much. Fascinating to hear how the changing technology of mobile phones and where the antenna is placed in the phone is affecting what type of cancer people are getting. When the antenna was at the top we saw an increase in brain cancer. Now the antennas are at the bottom and guess what type of cancer is skyrocketing …thyroid. Of course, the downward trend in brain cancer makes it easy for government to say hey, there’s no problem. But they’re ignoring the fact that the technology has changed and now there’s this BIG increase in cancer in another place.
