United Energy is up to old tricks again

Beware, United Energy in Victoria is still trying to hoodwink their customers into believing they must or need to ‘upgrade’ their analogue meter to a smart meter.

You have the right to say NO!

Here is a copy of their letter:

Here is an example of a response you could use to ensure you keep your trusted, safe and reliable analogue meter:

Yep – received one of these the other week.
Emailed them and informed that they have NO RIGHT OF ENTRY to the property without express authorization of the property owner. And that any person under they’re direction venturing onto the property would be charged with criminal trespass And that U.E would be charged with conspiracy to commit a criminal act.
Received an email straight back saying that it had been cancelled. Then they called to confirm that the visit had been cancelled.
Stand up to them – they have NO authority.
The only authority they have is that which you give them – otherwise they have NONE.

lastly i seen your templates, but what do i say when i have locked gate to to break-ins as i don’t feel safe leaving my front gates unlocked for the meter people to read them, i even just text all my readings including water meter via SMS, just UE give me headaches

  3. Mick says:

i got the exact same one, ….. i put up all the signs and it also had my address and what an embarrassment to all my neighbors
i even have CCTV of the person who came to my gate and i even blocked my gate and waited all day as i was so stressed out and panicking and so depressed for over 4 hours. It ruined my whole day.

I had this letter advising of installation clip tied to my security door last month.
I took letter to common law office who were prepared to send Marshals to my property and stop 🛑 power companies from stepping foot on my property.
I then informed energy Co of my intentions and they canceled the installation!

I wouldn’t give them the option of ignoring the letter of reply by not “.. confirming your receipt of this email” and say they never received it. Especially if it’s emailed or snail mail.
I’d send by registered post THEN SAY if you haven’t received a reply within 7 days you’ll deem this to be confirmation of their acceptance of your reply letter.

I rang them and they told me they won’t be upgrading after June. Hopefully that’s the end of everything!

  7. John says:

I got a similar letter from Origin Energy NSW, I rang them and opted out immediately, They tried to scare me with lame nonsense about I will have to pay for it if I don’t get it now, and I opted out.

Has the government or regulatory agency ruled that customers can keep their analogue meters and that smart meters are optional? Thank you. Nina BeetyCalifornia

    • Let's get real about RF says:

No such luck here in Victoria. The Victorian government is more interested in keeping power companies happy than looking after people.
