Hi, I have received a letter from Ausnet informing me that as of July 2023 I will be charged a fee of $34.80 to read my meter as I do not have a Smart Meter. I received an exemption some time ago as I had a Pacemaker Inserted and preferred not to have a Smart meter installed owing to some reported adverse effects. I have notices to the effect that I do NOT wish to have a Smart Meter installed on my premises but apparently they can now charge me a sum of $34.80 because I don’t have one. In the past they (AGL) have estimated my Electricity Bill with no problems and only on one occasion have I contacted them to give them the Correct Reading by sending a photo of my Electric Meter â with no problems. I am a pensioner and with increasing Electricty charges coming I cannot see how I can pay this amount. Are they entitled to charge it or can my meter continued to be estimated. I have tried to contact AGL but to no avail. Very best regards, Laurie Cunningham
