   Hello there,

   I’ve been told that from June 1 we have no choice but to allow our electricity provider to change our electricity meter over to a smart meter, according to legislation. It’s Alinta.

   Is this true?

   What can we do to campaign or block this?

   We live in a Queensland rental home, Sunshine Coast, but the home is owned by Main Roads as part of a reclamation for the railway realignment, have been here for 13 years now.

     Fight it! Put up signs, block access to the meter box (but make sure there is access to the switchboard), write letters etc.

     AEMC are the culprits behind the mandates. I’ve just written to them asking if they will be paying compensation and medical expenses for me. Before I knew about electrosensitivity, I had no idea (neither did the doctors or specialists) that there was even such a thing! I moved to Qld as it was the only place at the time where I could buy a house in my budget without a smart meter. I was previously going to the doctors 2/3 times a week, but since the move it’s been 2/3 times a year! Can’t believe the difference it has made to my life, and now they want to force me into illness again! Perhaps you can pose the same question to Alinta?

   The home owner pays for the transmissions from the smart meter . Even though the home owner does not want the microwave meter and the meter pulses thousands of times per day. Why should the home owner pay for the electricity used for the communication transmissions?

     Hi Dana,

     what area do you live in ? the best way to go about it is they were approved based on the RPS3 ARPANSA standard from 2002 and on page 33 it states -By the late 1960s it was clear that experimentally induced microwave and RF bio effects could be observed in small animals exposed either to continuous wave (CW) or pulsed RF and at levels significantly below the ANSI time averaged limit of 10 mW/cm2. Effects were also observed in small volume tissue samples. Such effects appeared to be more prominent where the experimental subject was exposed to significantly high pulsed or modulated fields, where peak intensities were moderate or high, but where the time averaged levels could be comparatively lower. In the 1970s, research focused upon dosimetry aspects and the extent to which non-uniform absorption may influence biological systems.
     Commencing early in the 1970s It’s clearly stating in the standards that it’s not safe, no different to having a standard for cigarettes but that is a person’s choice to smoke so send them a copy of the human rights act from the government website as they are in breach of your human rights to expose you to any form of radiation on your property even if that creates fear.
